How to avoid finding hair everywhere?
Shedding is a natural, cyclical, and normal phenomenon, and therefore impossible to avoid. However, there are several ways to significantly minimize the inconveniences that accompany it.
Should I shear my animals?
Are you really tired of constantly collecting hair everywhere? You're thinking of a simple and radical solution: eliminate the source of the problem and have your pet shaved. A good idea, right?
Except for woolly dogs, which need regular clipping, the answer, in a word, is NO.
Your dog's and cat's fur is essential for regulating their body temperature. Without their coats, they can't protect themselves from the cold, heat, UV rays, harsh weather, or humidity. They're vulnerable, and their immune systems can be weakened. This is very detrimental to their overall health, especially if they're already fighting a virus, disease, or tumor.
Above all, in response to this shock, the body will grow twice as much undercoat, which will double your problems. After repeated clippings, the problem becomes exponential! Try these tips instead... You and your companions will be better for it!
Tip 1: Brushing
Brush your dog and cat regularly, every day if possible. Make it a pleasant, bonding experience. This will remove dead hair regularly and quickly, and prevent knots and tangles from forming.
Always brush, literally, in the direction of the hair to prevent matting. Stimulate blood circulation with a light massage. You're doing your dog good and, at the same time, preventing parasites from settling in.
Tip 2: Shampoo
To enhance the results of brushing, you can also use a dog shampoo, but not too often: once a month is enough! For cats, it's best to limit it to two to four times a year.
Caution: Never use cleaning products intended for human use. Even baby products can irritate your pet's skin and increase hair loss.
Tip 3: Grooming
A good groomer offers specific care for the shedding season and can guide you toward the best treatment for your pet's breed. A visit at each changing season can significantly reduce your household woes and effectively relieve your companion during the season.
Tip 4: Food
Producing new hair requires more internal resources than usual. That's why it's important to pay attention to their nutrition and ensure it's high-quality and rich in all the nutrients necessary for their proper metabolism.
Particularly pronounced shedding can be a sign of an inadequate diet. The more complete the food, the less hair loss there will be and the more beautiful the new coat will be. Serve food rich in healthy fatty acids (polyunsaturated), protein, omega-3, and vitamins.
Tip 5: Supplements
If you are unsure whether your pet is getting all the essential nutrients in sufficient quantities, you can supplement their diet with species -specific prebiotics and probiotics, as they strengthen your pet's intestinal flora, stimulate natural digestive enzymes and optimize the absorption of essential nutrients, in addition to strengthening their immune system.
You can then give your pet pre & probiotics for maintenance, two to three times a week.
